This week

We had Dave & Annie and family come stay with us Thursday night thru Saturday.  It's always fun to have family come! It's a good excuse to make desserts (brownies and peach cobbler) and play games (4 rounds of Settlers and a couple of games of Scrabble with Annie).  We went to the park and swimming at the local pool on Saturday.  My legs are sore today from playing tag at the park and trying to run away from Dave or chase down Brynna (who is fast and hard to get!)  We played tag at the pool, too.  Good exercise to work off those brownies!

This past week we also had a family get-together with my in-laws on Monday for my niece's birthday.  My kids love playing with their cousins and it's nice to be together and visit and eat!  That same evening we went to a neighbor's for a cookout, too, and had some homemade ice cream.  Yum!

We're keeping fairly busy so far.  The kids have chores/works to do every morning.  My mom told me about an article she read in an LDS paper about an online job chart created for kids to learn how to work and be responsible.  It's at www.myjobchart.com and it's working out exceptionally well with my kids.  It takes a little work to set it up for them, but after that they are motivated to work and earn points for rewards.  They've all saved up enough points for an ice cream cone at McDonald's, and Kate has spent points on making a recipe.  There's all kinds of ideas for spending points and for the kinds of chores kids could do.  You should check it out!  My sister, Lori, is using it for her kids, too, and likes it.

This week I ordered some bushes and trees from www.eburgess.com .  I'm so excited about planting them!  They have a 1 cent sale where you buy something for the regular price and get 1or more for 1 cent.  Their shipping and handling fees are reasonable also.  I ended up ordering 6 cherry bushes, 2 mulberry trees, 2 june berry bushes, and 2 mock orange bushes for less than $30 ($9 for S&H).  So happy! I called my dad to tell him about what I ordered, and he got excited for me, too, (as he loves to plant things) and said to let him know when they get here as maybe they could come back up and help me plant them -- haha.  Just thought that was funny....

Anyway, we're doing well. Jim's doing better with his shoulder, and able to do more things. Life is good :).

Some pics from this week:

The birthday girl, my niece, trying to hit a pinata.

Lissy having her turn.  Isn't Jason brave to just hold the pinata so casually before him?

 And Kira...

Going on a walk with Uncle Dave... He made 'tracks' with the stroller and the kids had a good time following the tracks after him.  He was weaving all over the dirt road :).
 Another pic with Uncle Dave

At the park (Daniel in between Lissy and Kira)

And Kira...see the bandaids on both knees?  Don't run with flip-flops while going downhill on asphalt wearing shorts... just a warning...
