We started out west on the 277 highway, and turned north on Zeniff Road -- which was a very long and straight dirt road that went on forever, and the girls kept begging to turn around -- they weren't as enthusiastic as me about our little road trip! The dirt road finally intersected with the 377 heading to Holbrook, and we took a pit stop at a grove of trees out in the middle of nowhere. As we parked the car we saw a small herd of deer in the trees that quickly bounded away from us. Brynna said that was the first time she's seen a deer in real life.
After exploring in the trees for awhile we climbed back in the car to head for the wind generators that we could see up ahead.
We headed north on the 377, till we saw a dirt road off to the right that was close to the generators, and sure enough there was a sign on the fence stating power generators. We followed that dirt road till we couldn't go anymore (authorized personnel only), parked the car, and hiked up a little hill to see a row of generators. They were huge and amazing!
A close-up:
Girls explored for a bit, till Kate stepped in some cactus with her flip-flops, and I piggy-backed her back to the car, and then we headed home, back the way we came (as the girls insisted on -- they worry too much about getting lost...) Last stop was for icees at Maverick! It was a perfect afternoon for a drive...
And because I can't help myself -- here's some recent pics of the front and back of our house:
Wow, your house is really moving along.
ReplyDeleteSomehow the icees at the end of the trip seemed to make it perfect! Glad you guys had a good time. And that grove of trees looked pretty cool.
Why is it that I have never noticed these wind mill things? Now I have to go look for them, we'll have to take a summer "field trip" to find them. I'm so sad that your house is coming along so quickly! Sad for me, happy for you!
