Kira's Birthday

Kira turned 6 last week.  We awakened her at 5:45am on a school day for her to open her presents before the big girls had to get ready and go to school. We came into her room, turned on the light and started singing "Happy Birthday" to her.  I wish I had thought of videoing her instead of taking a picture, but I was pretty dead tired myself and didn't think of it.

Look how quickly she perked up to open her presents:

 Still tired though...
She was very pleased with all her presents, and kept thanking us over and over.  Sweet!

Here's Kira after school -- her friend, Elisa, is wearing Kira's birthday crown she got from school for being the birthday girl.

That evening we had the extended family come over for birthday cake and ice cream.  Kira requested a chocolate cherry cake, and I happily made 2 cakes so we could have leftovers :).

Blowing out the lighter...

We're so happy to have Kira in our family -- she's growing so fast.  She just started reading and sounding words out, and is excited that she can finally read. She's very affectionate and tender-hearted, and she loves animals.  Happy Birthday, Kira!!
